MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has arrested and deported an American wanted by the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for his alleged role in a massive healthcare fraud scheme worth billions of dollars.
Immigration Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado identified the fugitive as Herbert Leon Kimble, 60, who is on the FBI's most wanted fraudsters list with a $150,000 reward on his head.
Kimble was arrested on June 11 in Pasig City by agents of the BI’s Fugitive Search Unit, working alongside government intelligence operatives.
The operation forms part of the government's intensified campaign to strengthen border security and prevent the Philippines from becoming a refuge for foreign fugitives.
US authorities said Kimble is the subject of a federal arrest warrant issued by the United States District Court in South Carolina.
