
SANDAKAN: Marine police foiled an attempt to smuggle cooking oil and petrol to a neighbouring country during “Ops Taring Landai Khas Kontraband” on Sunday.
Sabah Region Four Marine Police Commander ACP Mohd Nazri Ibrahim said officers intercepted two vehicles – a white three-tonne Tohatsu lorry and a silver Toyota Hilux – parked along Jalan Bokara near Kampung Pukat, around 9pm, following intelligence reports.
AdvertisementThe seized contraband included 146 boxes containing 2,482 1kg packets of cooking oil and 10 gallons (300 litres) of petrol.
Further investigation led officers to discover additional boxes of cooking oil at Jeti Jambatan 4 in Kampung Pukat, believed to be transported via sea,” he said.

The total value of the seized items, including both vehicles, was estimated at more than RM146,717.
