In a bid to address concerns raised by viral images depicting a wild party on Pulau Lang Tengah, the Terengganu government is summoning the owner of a private resort on Thursday. The state Exco for Tourism, Culture, Environment, and Climate Change, Datuk Razali Idris, emphasized the need for an explanation regarding the disturbing photos and posters circulating on social media since Tuesday. The meeting, slated to involve the Terengganu Religious Affairs Department (JHEAT) and the Kuala Terengganu City Council (MBKT), aims to probe into the alleged misconduct and ensure adherence to regulations.
"We will investigate this matter thoroughly. If any regulations or laws have been violated, appropriate action will be taken," Razali stated, underscoring the gravity of the situation. He stressed the importance of scrutinizing responses from the private premises involved before determining the course of action, whether it pertains to entertainment standards, tourism guidelines, or permit approvals.
Encouraging public cooperation, Razali urged individuals with pertinent information to come forward and assist the authorities. He emphasized the possibility of involving the religious office if any violations of regulations or involvement of Muslims in the party are substantiated.
Expressing commitment to preserving and enhancing the state's tourism sector, Razali conveyed optimism regarding the collaborative efforts to address the issue effectively. He reiterated the government's dedication to upholding standards and ensuring the appropriateness of activities within the region.
The uproar stemmed from posters and photos circulating on Tuesday, depicting scantily clad women purportedly attending an event dubbed the "Aloha Party" on the island. The images garnered widespread attention and sparked criticism, with many expressing concern over the suitability of such events within the state.
