Bilaspur Deputy Commissioner Rahul Kumar picked up a broom to clean the town on World Environment Day, conveying the message that cleanliness is of utmost importance today. A cleanliness and tree plantation drive was organised near Luhnu Ground by the district administration. Despite being a major sports hub of the town, garbage remains littered in and around this area.

Rahul Kumar said that the events were organised with public participation to convey the message that environmental conservation, cleanliness and collective responsibility towards nature are essential for the general public.

He urged citizens to make cleanliness a part of their daily lives and to plant as many trees as possible. He said that the earth has vast resources required for human life and its conservation is a shared responsibility for all. He added that, amid growing environmental challenges, adopting a sensitive approach towards nature has become the need of the hour. He further said that environmental conservation is not limited to government schemes or campaigns but is a responsibility linked to the behaviour and lifestyle of every citizen.

The DC said that small efforts such as cleanliness, tree plantation, water conservation, and judicious use of natural resources can bring significant positive changes in environmental conservation. He said that when every section of society actively contributes to environmental protection and cleanliness, a clean, safe and green environment can be ensured for future generations.
