Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates will give a closed-door interview to a US House committee investigating Jeffrey Epstein, as documents reveal details of their association.

WASHINGTON: BILL Gates will testify before a US House committee investigating the late financier Jeffrey Epstein and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell.

A source close to the matter confirmed the Microsoft co-founder will give a transcribed interview on June 10.

The committee is scrutinising prominent names featured in recently released US Justice Department documents.

These documents reportedly detail close friendships, illicit financial dealings, and private photos involving Epstein.

Gates “welcomes the opportunity to appear before the Committee,” a spokesperson said.

The spokesperson added that Gates never witnessed or participated in Epstein’s illegal conduct and looks forward to answering questions.

Gates has previously admitted a “huge mistake” in associating with Epstein.

He told staff at his charity foundation he had affairs with two Russian women but denied any involvement in Epstein’s crimes.

Released documents include a draft email where Epstein alleged he helped Gates get drugs and facilitated illicit trysts.

Gates publicly admitted to two extramarital affairs at a town hall event.

“I did have affairs, one with a Russian bridge player… and one with a Russian nuclear physicist,” he stated.

He firmly denied any involvement with victims of Epstein, who died in jail in 2019 while awaiting trial for sex trafficking.

“I did nothing illicit. I saw nothing illicit,” Gates told the town hall.

The billionaire said his relationship with Epstein began in 2011.

This was three years after Epstein pleaded guilty to soliciting a minor for prostitution.

Gates acknowledged knowing of an “18-month” travel restriction on Epstein but did not check his background.

He also confirmed his then-wife Melinda expressed concerns about Epstein in 2013.

Despite these concerns, Gates continued the relationship for at least another year.
