- Miley Cyrus has released a trailer for her forthcoming album, Bass Persuades, with the teaser featuring her title as just “Miley”.
- While fans have questioned the singer’s decision to drop her surname, Cyrus’ father Billy Ray has insisted it was a “natural progression” for “an iconic superstar legend”.
- Writing in an Instagram post, Billy Ray said: “I always called my little girl Miley. Just… Miley. Just like I always called my little boy Braison.”
- He added: “I told Miley yesterday I felt good about her going with her first name. I mentioned Dolly and Cher. Thinkin’ about it more and more… Elvis… Prince… and so on. It’s a natural progression for an iconic superstar legend. And the legend continues! Looking forward to the new album.”
- Miley's 10-track album is scheduled to be released on 18 September, with her representatives saying the new era comes as she “continues to honour the profound influence of her godmother, Dolly Parton.”
