The General House meeting of the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation witnessed huge uproar today over the alleged comments of Chandigarh BJP president Jatinder Pal Malhotra regarding Punjabis, calling them “emotional bloody fools.”

Councillors of the Congress and AAP, displaying posters inside the House, demanded the resignation of Malhotra.

Gurpreet Gabi, Premlata, Sachin Galav and Jasbir Singh Bunty of the Congress demanded that Malhotra should tender an apology.

AAP councillors also raised the issue of the alleged embezzlement of the donation fund at the Ayodhya Ram Mandir. However, BJP councillors raised the controversy over the video related to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and demanded his resignation.

Mayor Saurabh Joshi said the issue had already been settled after Malhotra tendered an apology.

Meanwhile, the Chandigarh Pradesh Congress also held a protest outside the office of the Municipal Corporation over the demand for providing 20,000 litres of free water per month to every household.

HS Lucky, president of the Chandigarh Congress, said that the delay in implementing a proposal already passed by the Municipal Corporation House is anti-people and reflects the failure of both the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party. Lucky said that 20,000 litres of free water is not a favour but the rightful entitlement.
