The long-running power struggle between Haryana Cabinet Minister and Faridabad MLA Vipul Goel and Union Minister of State Krishan Pal Gurjar has escalated, with Goel ordering a vigilance review of all works executed by the Municipal Corporation (MC) Faridabad over the past 10 years.
The move comes just days after Gurjar publicly described the civic body as a hub of corruption during a District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting.
In a letter addressed to the Director General, Vigilance, and marked to Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Goel referred to the DISHA meeting held on May 12, 2026, where Gurjar, along with MLAs Mool Chand Sharma (Ballabhgarh), Dhanesh Adlakha (Badkhal) and Satish Phagna (NIT Faridabad), allegedly raised allegations of corruption against Municipal Corporation officials over the past decade.
Citing the meeting, Goel wrote: “To find a clear and correct picture in the whole matter, I would like that a vigilance inquiry may be ordered in the following works/purchase of materials/machinery by the Municipal Corporation, Faridabad for the past 10 years.” A copy of the letter is with The Tribune.
Goel has sought vigilance scrutiny of road construction works, including their quantity, quality and thickness as per work orders; laying of interlocking paver blocks according to approved specifications; purchase of plants, pots and tree guards for green belts; sewerage works and sanitation, including procurement of mechanical sweeping machines; and the allotment of multiple works to a single agency in an allegedly discretionary and discriminatory manner.
He has also sought a status report on the action taken in the vigilance inquiry into the alleged Rs 200-crore scam involving MC Faridabad.
The political controversy widened after Gurjar, having targeted MC Faridabad at the DISHA meeting, demanded similar corruption inquiries into all municipal corporations across Haryana.
“Modi government had zero tolerance to corruption. Not just Faridabad, every MC should be audited, including Gurugram. No matter what’s the position, nobody can siphon off public money,” Gurjar said in his latest statement.
