Demanding accountability for the Congress’ performance in the recently concluded Urban Local Body (ULB) and Panchayat elections, the BJP on Wednesday called upon Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to resign on moral grounds, claiming that the poll results reflected a clear rejection of the state government.
Addressing a press conference in Shimla, BJP state media in-charge and MLA Randhir Sharma said the election outcomes were a direct reflection of public sentiment in Himachal Pradesh. He asserted that the results amounted to a “vote of no-confidence” against the Congress government, alleging that voters had rejected what he described as politics based on unfulfilled promises, misleading guarantees and administrative failures. Sharma said instead of accepting the people’s verdict with humility, the Congress was attempting to deflect responsibility.
