The Melaka Water Regulatory Authority refutes social media claims of rationing, stating supply is stable despite hot weather affecting raw water levels.
MELAKA: The Melaka Water Regulatory Authority (BKSA) has firmly denied social media rumours claiming that water rationing is being implemented in the state.
In a statement, BKSA clarified that the overall water supply remains under control despite prolonged hot weather and reduced rainfall affecting raw water levels in recent weeks.
The state government, through BKSA and Syarikat Air Melaka Bhd, is implementing several measures to ensure a sufficient and stable supply for consumers.
These measures include optimising operations at water treatment plants and utilising existing ponds and lakes as alternative sources.
Authorities are also enhancing continuous monitoring of all raw water sources to manage the situation proactively.
Concurrent efforts are being intensified to reduce non-revenue water through improved leak control and distribution system upgrades.
BKSA reiterated the state government’s commitment to implementing these measures continuously to safeguard water supply.
The public has been urged to use water prudently and avoid wastage during the current dry spell.
Consumers are also advised to obtain information only from official state government channels and to refrain from spreading unverified information.
