A black bear fell from a tree to safety after being tranquillized in a four-hour standoff with police in Albany on Tuesday (21 April).

Police decided the safest way to remove the cub, which had been up the tree for several hours, was to tranquillize it before relocating it to the mountains.

A large net was set up with padding to catch the animal after it was hit with a sedative dart.

Footage from WNYT shows the bear tumble from the tree onto a lower branch, clinging onto it for several minutes before falling into the safety net.
