Blackburn Rovers manager Jon Dahl Tomasson admits he offered to resign last summer.

The Dane says he was ready to walk after realising there was no money to spend.

He told the Lancashire Telegraph: "Last season we struggled to get into the playoffs without a senior striker in the most important games. Things changed in the summer. It was like a hand grenade and the budgets changed.

"I told the club that it was not the project I signed up for. I said it was a different situation and I asked if they wanted to find another head coach for that project.

"'We can cancel my contract, no problem. I don't want any money'.

"It was this summer that I told the club. It's a difficult situation financially, so that's what I said.

"It wouldn't be a problem for me if they wanted to cancel, and I didn't want money. If they wanted a new head coach for the new project, I would go, but they wanted me to stay.

"I moved my family here and put all my energy into Rovers. It is on a daily basis. My two children and my wife are here. I think about Rovers 24 hours a day."
