Blaze damages homes and destroys vehicles in PJ residential area

A FIRE tore through a residential street in Petaling Jaya on Sunday evening, damaging two terraced houses and destroying several vehicles in a catastrophe that prompted a rapid response from emergency services.

The Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) said it received an emergency call at 7.40pm regarding the blaze at Jalan SS 5D/6. Firefighters from the Petaling Jaya station, supported by a team from Damansara, were immediately deployed to the scene.

“Sixteen personnel and officers with fire engines from the Petaling Jaya Fire and Rescue Station, along with assistance from the Damansara station, rushed to the location, which is about eight kilometres away,” said Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar, assistant director of operations for JBPM Selangor.

He added that the first engine arrived approximately 15 minutes later and found that the fire involved two Class A terraced houses.

“One house was about 40 per cent destroyed, while the other sustained around 30 per cent damage,” he said.

The blaze also spread to nearby vehicles, severely damaging a Perodua Axia, which was almost 95 per cent completely destroyed, as well as a Proton Preve and a Proton X50, each of which sustained roughly 50 per cent damage. - April 27, 2026
