  • Blind artist Clarke Reynolds, known as Mr Dot, is set to run the Brighton Marathon using Meta AI glasses and the Be My Eyes app, guided remotely by volunteers worldwide.
  • This pioneering attempt marks a world first in applying AI technology for a visually impaired marathon runner, aiming to push the boundaries of its use for the blind community.
  • Mr Reynolds, 45, who has Retinitis Pigmentosa, is undertaking the 26.2-mile challenge to raise funds for the Fight for Sight charity and to combat stigma around sight loss.
  • He previously found running with a physical guide challenging due to differing paces, but finds remote assistance much easier, having trained with over 100 volunteers globally.
  • The artist hopes his endeavour will inspire visually impaired children and demonstrate that technology can enable a full life, challenging perceptions of disability and his own art.
