The police claimed to have solved the blind murder of a Kanganwal man, Harvinder Singh (45), whose body was found lying inside his house on Friday night.

Two of his friends, who were identified in the case, were nabbed by the joint team of the Ahmedgarh police station and the CIA, Malerkotla, when they were trying to flee the area late on Saturday night.

The suspects were identified as Mandeep Kala of Kanganwal and Sandeep Singh Bosco of Dasondha Singh Wala.

SP Rajwinder Singh Randhawa said police officials, supervised by Ahmedgarh DSP Inderpal Chauhan, DSP (D) Sumit Sood, Sadar SHO Gurpreet Kaur and in-charge, CIA, Harjinder Singh, had nabbed Kala and Bosco when they were trying to leave the area late on Saturday evening.

Both of them were identified as key suspects in the murder case of Harvinder, whose body was found lying at his house in Kanganwal late on Friday night.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased and the suspects had been associated with each other for a long time and were involved in illicit trade of drug peddling.

Kala and Harvinder used to conduct financial transactions in the past.

Though the police are yet to ascertain exact reason behind the murder, it is suspected that the victim and the suspects had developed enmity over some financial dispute.

The suspects had visited the victim’s house on Friday night and assaulted him after an altercation over repayment of a loan. The complainant, Mandeep Singh, cousin of the Harvinder, found that victim’s limbs were tied.

The exact reason for the death of the victim will be known after the arrival of the post-mortem report but the circumstantial evidence suggests that the duo had strangled the victim to death.

The suspects left the area on a motorcycle and went to an undisclosed location after committing the crime.
