BLOGGER Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris was charged in the Kuala Lumpur Magistrates’ Court on Friday with failing to submit updated business details to the relevant authorities after his registered enterprise was allegedly used to receive public donations to pay a defamation judgment involving Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Wan Muhammad Azri, 42, popularly known as Papagomo, pleaded not guilty when the charge was read out before Magistrate Illi Marisqa Khalizan.
According to the charge, Wan Muhammad Azri, as the person responsible for the business Invoice Solutions, a company registered for event management and services, failed to notify the registrar of changes to the business particulars when it was allegedly used to collect donations from the public to settle a defamation lawsuit, identified as case number 23NCVC-37-03/2013.
The offence was allegedly committed between Oct 24 and Nov 30, 2017. He was charged under Rule 17A(1)(b) of the Business Registration Rules 1957, which is punishable under Section 12A of the Business Registration Act 1956.
If convicted, he faces a fine of up to RM10,000, imprisonment for a maximum of one year, or both.
Earlier, Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhamad Anas Mahadzir sought bail of RM5,000 with one surety.
However, defence counsel Muhammad Amirul Ar-Rasyid asked for a lower amount, telling the court that his client was the main breadwinner of his family and was also facing several other civil suits.
The court granted bail at RM2,500 with one surety and fixed Jan 30 next year for mention of the case. - December 19, 2025
