
PENAMPANG: A paramedic assistant was killed and two others slightly injured when their BMW crashed into a road divider before plunging into a 20-foot ravine near Padimas Point Jalan Penampang-Kinarut, Wednesday.
Jessica Simon, 41, succumbed to her injuries at the scene while a 24-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man who drove the car, escaped with minor injuries.
The two were sending Jessica back to her house at Kapayan Ridge when the driver lost control of the vehicle in the 1.44am mishap.
The 24-year-old survivor said Jessica was still conscious after the accident and even asked her if she was okay.
“That was the last thing Jessica said before going silent,” she said.
According to Jessica’s brother, Shantiny, 42, his sister, a single mother, has two children, a 16-year-old daughter in Form Four and a 17-year-old son in Form Five, both studying in Tambunan.
It is understood that Jessica’s husband had passed away and their two children stayed with their grandmother in Tambunan. Shantiny said his sister was scheduled to return to Tambunan on Thursday to arrange for her children’s schooling.
Her body will be sent back to Tambunan for burial.
