KOTA KINABALU: Barisan Nasional (BN) has completed its screening process for potential candidates in the coming state election, with between four and five names submitted for each constituency, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (pic).

Zahid, also BN chairman and Umno president, said the list will continue to be refined at state and divisional levels, with the priority on fielding winnable candidates, including women.

He said discussions with Sabah BN chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin are ongoing to finalise the line-up, though the central vetting process has been settled.

Zahid, who is also Rural and Regional Development Minister, announced that GiatMara will immediately rewire 4,000 dilapidated homes in Sabah under the SERI programme, expanded from 1,000 after discussions with Bung Moktar.

He also stressed the need to close the gender gap in the workforce by expanding access to TVET training in Sabah, with over RM20 million allocated for upgrading centres and nearly RM500,000 set aside for specialised TVET programmes this year.
