BARISAN Nasional (BN) has identified its candidates to contest in the 17th Sabah State Election (PRN), said its Secretary-General, Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir.
He said that preparations for the PRN have also been completed at the party level, including discussions with the Sabah BN leadership, which has its own autonomy.
"At the Barisan Nasional level, I can say that preparations have been completed and we are just waiting for the time to announce the names of the candidates.
"God willing, we expect the Honorable (BN Chairman) together with the Sabah leadership to make an announcement at the appropriate time," he told reporters.
Previously, BN Chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was reported to have said that his party is expected to announce the names of candidates and the seats that will be contested a week before nomination day.
He also announced that BN will not contest in all 73 state seats, but will instead examine the areas that will be given focus.
The Election Commission (EC) has set November 29 as polling day for the Sabah state election, with nominations on November 15 and early voting on November 25.
The Sabah State Assembly has 79 seats, with 73 of them contested, while the remaining six are for elected State Assemblymen (ADUNs). - November 3, 2025
