Airbnb is opening up its Reserve Now, Pay Later feature for Malaysia, which will let users reserve a stay without paying anything upfront. Yes, absolute “0”.
Eligible listings are covered worldwide; it doesn’t have to be exclusively “Malaysian renting a Malaysian property,” and the feature’s probably the lifesaver for those group gatherings when funds are usually collected one by one in a group chat.
Pushing for more flexibility while still protecting hosts, Listings must have a moderate or flexible cancellation policy, and hosts’ policies remain unchanged. Since payment is still due before the free cancellation window closes, hosts have enough time to rebook the property if someone cancels – so it’s not leaving them exposed either.
The new option also sits alongside Airbnb’s existing flexible payment tools, like Pay Part Now, Part Later, where guests split the payment between checkout and a later date.
