Former AC Milan director Zvonimir Boban was happy for the club winning the Scudetto last season.
Boban was forced out of the club the previous campaign after a clash with chief exec Ivan Gazidis.
Now head of football at UEFA, Boban was asked who contacted him first after the title was won: “Paolo [Maldini] and Massara, who then passed the phone to Stefano Pioli. They were on the bus returning from Sassuolo. My father and son were at the stadium, they are crazy for Milan.
“Paolo has worked so well, he was fundamental," continued Boban.
“Stefano was great at creating an incredible group of players with an amazing spirit, he never gave up. Sometimes we don't share the same view, but that's what's nice about football."
Boban also praised the signing of Charles de Ketelaere.
“He has class, vision and personality. I have a few doubts in terms of the pace needed to be a star, but he is a talent worthy of Milan," he added.
