Body found floating in Semporna

SEMPORNA: A body of a man wearing an Arsenal football club shirt was found floating in waters near Buwan Dive Resort, Kampung Tampi-Tampi on June 29.

District Police Chief, Supt Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said Semporna Police Headquarters was alerted about the discovery at 7.41am.

Mohd Farhan said no identification document was found on the body.

“The body was found with bloated stomach while the head was rotting and difficult to identify.

According to Mohd Farhan, the victim also wearing a black-colour rubber band on his left hand and a yellow string believed to be amulet wrapped from the left shoulder to the right rib.

He said the estimated age of the body could not be ascertained and the case have been classified as sudden death.

“The body was sent to Forensic Department of Semporna Hospital for further action.

“Those with missing family member who match the body’s description or have any information may contact Inspector Mustapha Abd Majid at 010-5517617 or 089-782020 or the nearest police station,” he added.
