
PAPAR: Police here are asking members of the public who have lost a family member to come forward following the discovery of an identified man’s body near Sungai Kogopon, Sunday.
District Police Chief Supt Kamaruddin Ambo Sakka said the deceased – believed aged between 30 to 35-years-old – was found floating in the river at about 12.30pm by a passer-by.
“Initial investigations revealed that the body was found on the rocky riverbank without clothes or identification.

Initially, Kamaruddin said the body was discovered by a passerby who was about to fish at the river that was located near the Kogopon water treatment plant.
Based on the body’s characteristics, he said it is believed that the victim has died for few days, however, no physical injuries were detected.
“However, police have identified a flower-like tattoo on the victim’s right arm with an earring worn on the left ear.
“As of now, there is no confirmation on the cause of death or the identity of the deceased. Police have not received missing person reports in the district,” he added.
He said the body will be sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital 1 today (May 5) for post-mortem to identify the cause of death.
Kamaruddin added that the case was classified as sudden death report as there were no criminal element found during investigation so far.
