
KENINGAU: One of the two sisters feared drowned in a river in Kampung Lingkudau, here, on Monday afternoon was found on Tuesday.
Keningau Fire and Rescue Department Chief Yuszaimi Hairrul Azwan Juatan said the body of Azila binti Jabar, 12, was found at 11.36am, about 1.7km from the scene of the incident.
He said the search and rescue (SAR) operation for her younger sister, Arlina binti Jabar, 9, was continuing.
He added that 15 firemen led by the head of the District Fire and Rescue Station, Sharudy Delamin, were deployed to the scene with machinery after the station received a call at 5.07pm on Monday.

“Together, they carried out a surface searching operation around the area where the incident happened and the operation was suspended at 7.50pm on Monday,” he said.
Yuszaimi said the surface searching operation continued on Tuesday at 6.34am, covering an area of 2.5km using a boat, while the Water Rescue Team (PPDA) of the Fire and Rescue Department conducted a search operation by diving.
He added that the SAR operation for the still missing girl would continue today (Wednesday).
