A newborn baby girl was found deceased inside a toilet bowl at a rented house in Kluang, Johor in a shocking case that unfolded yesterday (July 29).
Harian Metro reported that the Kluang district police headquarters was alerted of the matter after a report was received at around 1pm.
This comes after a 19-year-old female college student was admitted to Hospital Enche Besar Hajjah Kalsom.
Baby found with stab wounds
Johor police chief Datuk Ab Rahaman Arsad said the student had reportedly given birth recently before contacting a teacher, who then took her to the hospital for a medical checkup.
Doctors later confirmed she had indeed given birth and discovered she was pregnant with another baby girl.
Investigations led police to the rented house where the student was residing and found the baby’s body inside the toilet bowl.
Police also found multiple stab wounds on the baby’s body, but are currently working to determine the real cause of death.
Arrest
Police have since arrested the student and another 19-year-old male college student, who’s believed to be her boyfriend.
An application to remand the suspect at the Kluang Magistrate’s Court has also been made.
The case is being probed under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder and Section 315 of the Penal Code for acts done with intent to prevent a child from being born alive or to cause the death of a newborn.
