
SANDAKAN: The body of a missing fisherman was found in the waters of Bankawan Island near here at 10am, Friday.
Sandakan Fire and Rescue Station chief Severinus Sainkui said the victim, identified as Asmin Lasait, 45, was believed to have left the jetty at around 5am, Thursday, heading towards Bankawan Island to catch fish and was supposed to return the same day.
"However, at approximately 1pm, villagers found the victim's boat unattended in the waters of Bankawan Island," he said, Friday.
The victim, a single father of two daughters, was also believed to have a history of asthma.

The body was then handed over to the police for further action.
