Body Of Missing Police Corporal Found In Perak Canal

The body of a 39-year-old police corporal was recovered early Monday morning after he drowned while swimming in a water canal in Changkat Lada, Kampung Gajah.

Corporal Muhammad Taufik Sayuti, who served at the Melaka Tengah District Police headquarters, was swimming with friends following a reunion event at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Changkat Lada when the incident occurred. According to reports, he became fatigued and was attempting to reach the shore when he was overcome by strong currents.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department operations division assistant director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad confirmed that search teams located the victim's body at 4:55 AM on Monday, approximately three meters from the Fire Control Center (PKB).

"The body has been handed over to the police for further action," Sabarodzi said in a statement.

Corporal Taufik had been swimming with fellow alumni after attending a reunion ceremony at his former school when the tragic incident took place on Sunday.
