Body-worn cameras can ensure integrity, transparency: IGP

KUALA LUMPUR – The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) believe the use of body-worn cameras can enhance officers’ integrity, professionalism and transparency when carrying out their duties as well as safeguard all parties’ interest.

Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said PDRM will ensure that the body-worn cameras improve the quality and efficiency of their service to the public.

“PDRM welcomes the government’s initiative to expedite the procurement and enforcement of body-worn cameras for the motorbike and car patrol units,” he said in a statement today.

Yesterday, Home Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the government had approved an allocation of RM30 million to procure body-worn cameras so that police can carry out their duties more efficiently. – Bernama, December 14, 2022
