
Kota Kinabalu: A man was charged in the Magistrate’s Court here with cheating by impersonating a policeman and forcing a man to hand over RM4,000 to him.
Sulaiman Abdul Fattah pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Marilyn Kelvin to committing the offence by pretending to be a policeman from D7, IPK Sabah, and tricking Asyari Asta into giving him RM4,000, for which Asyari would not have given if he had not been deceived.
The offence allegedly committed between Sept 17, and Sept 29, this year, at a unit, at Beverly Hills Phase 3, Jalan Bundusan, near here.
The charge under Section 419 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to seven years or fine or both, on conviction.

Meanwhile, a 47-year-old man was fined RM2,000 or jailed a month for stealing RM1,000 cash from a woman.
Security guard Abu Bakar Talah admitted to stealing the cash belonging to one Rosalia Marjuhan, on June 13, this year, at 2.30am, at the Club Mix, Penampang Baru, Penampang.
The charge under Section 379 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to seven years or fine or both on conviction.
The facts of the case presented by the prosecution stated that on the said day, while Rosalia was with a few friends in the premises, she realised her handbag was missing.
While searching for it, a man handed her the handbag.
Rosalia found the cash in her handbag missing when she got home and subsequently lodged a police report.
Investigations revealed through the CCTV footage that Abu was the last person seen with the handbag.
In another case, Abu claimed trial to having and illegally using a MyPR under his name.
Abu allegedly having the said document with a serial number 770511-65-5445 under the name of Abu Bakar Talah on Aug 28, this year, at 8pm, at the Crime Investigations Division office of IPD Penampang.
The charge is framed under Section 25(1)(e) of the National Registration Regulations 1990 which carries a jail term of up to three years or fine or up to RM20,000 or both on conviction.
The court fixed Nov 11 for pre-trial case management and released Abu, who was represented by counsel Azhier Farhan, on a bail of RM2,000 in two sureties and to report to the nearest police station once a month.
