THE Board of Investments (BOI) has approved P900.06 billion worth of investments from 207 projects for the first nine months of the year, the agency reported on Tuesday.
The number marks a 53.05 percent increase from investment approvals during the same period last year.
It also amounts to 90 percent of the agency’s P1 trillion full-year target, with three more months remaining in the year.
The total amount of investments comes from 207 projects that are expected to generate 21,524 jobs for Filipinos.
Investment approvals reached P278.21 billion in September alone. This shows a 392.5 percent increase from the P56.49 billion recorded in September 2025. The total investments come from 27 approved projects that are expected to generate at least 2,068 jobs.
Trade Secretary Cristina Roque attributed the success to the effectiveness of the Marcos Jr. administration’s reforms in improving the business environment in the country.
She added that this reflects the growing investor interest in the Philippines as an ideal destination for growth and expansion.
She added that the DTI will continue to pursue investments that would improve the country’s industrial capabilities, drive technological innovation, and create high-value employment for Filipinos.
Investments were distributed across the energy, infrastructure, logistics, digital industries, and tourism-related activities. The electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning supply sector remained the main driver of investment approvals, accounting for P740.14 billion, or 82.23 percent of total approved investments.
Investments in the sector also rose by 75.2 percent from the P422.34 billion recorded during the same period last year. This performance was driven by the approval of major hydropower, wind, solar, and other energy projects.
BOI said approved projects in the sector are expected to create 1,903 jobs, 71.6 percent higher than the 1,109 jobs a year earlier.
The energy sector was followed by real estate with P46.66 billion in approved investments, transportation and storage with P36.47 billion, information and communication with P18.36 billion, and manufacturing with P14.86 billion. Notably, investments in the information and communication sector nearly doubled, with a 96.47 percent increase compared to the previous year.
Significant gains were also seen in accommodation and food service activities (265.5 percent), water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation activities (3,116.6 percent), and wholesale and retail trade, including the repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (314.7 percent).
Cordillera had the most approved investments at P218.48 billion, followed by Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Eastern Visayas, Calabarzon, and the National Capital Region. Meanwhile, Caraga has the fastest growth at 1,731.5 percent, followed by Western Visayas and Ilocos Region.
Domestic investors made up the bulk of investment approvals at P808.96 billion or 89.88 percent of total approved investments. This was 60.5 percent higher than the P503.95 billion recorded during the same period last year.
The top source of foreign investments was Singapore with P42.71 billion, or 46.9 percent of the total foreign investment approvals. South Korea, China, Japan, the Netherlands, Australia, and the United States were also among the top sources of foreign investments.
Trade Undersecretary and BOI Managing Head Ceferino Rodolfo said the agency will continue to promote the country as a premier destination for investments as we enter the final quarter of the year. He noted that the strong approvals show not just the resilience of the economy but also investors’ interest in the country’s long-term growth prospects.
“We remain optimistic that investment momentum will continue through the remainder of the year,” he added.
