THE Board of Investments (BOI) has partnered with nonprofit group Island Skies Alliance Inc. (ISA) to accelerate the development of a Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) industry in the Philippines, positioning the country as a potential regional hub for low-carbon aviation.
ISA is an aviation-focused organization that promotes SAF development by bringing together government agencies, airlines, technology providers, investors and sustainability experts.
A memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed on June 16 by Trade Undersecretary and BOI Managing Head Ceferino Rodolfo and ISA CEO Junard Cruz.
The BOI said the collaboration aims to attract green investments, encourage innovation and strengthen the country’s SAF ecosystem as global demand for cleaner aviation fuels grows.
“The Philippines has all the elements needed to become a global leader in sustainable aviation fuel,” Rodolfo said, citing the country’s expanding aviation market, abundant feedstock resources and supportive policies.
Cruz said the partnership would help align government and private-sector efforts to advance sustainable aviation and unlock investment opportunities across the SAF value chain.
The initiative underscores the Philippines’ readiness to participate in the global shift toward low-carbon aviation, while supporting long-term economic and environmental goals.
