Former Aston Villa winger Yannick Bolasie believes the club is going backwards under Steven Gerrard.
The iconic former Liverpool and England midfielder did win the Scottish Premiership with Rangers before coming to Villa.
However, Gerrard has found life in the Midlands challenging, despite spending significant sums of money on his preferred signings.
Writing on social media, Bolasie said after the team's 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest in the Premier League: “This slow build up will never help Villa…fast pace and energy was the vibe always."
In a further tweet, he added: “I just want the team to get back that energy and fight... it's become boring to watch which is mad with the talented players there."
Bolasie continued: “I'm just frustrated, man, always look forward to watching Villa play but just annoyed as it's going backwards."
