SOME people never learn - Just two days after the Putra Height gas pipeline fire, the Seremban Fire and Rescue Department was called to douse a fire started by irresponsible parties at an illegal dumping site in Taman Bukit Sendayan yesterday.
Based on a post by JBPM Seremban 2 on its Facebook page, a team was dispatched after a report on open burning of garbage at the site.

Operations Chief from the Seremban 2 JBPM Mohd Nizam Yom, said they received information about the incident at 8:30am.
"As soon as we arrived, we found that there was a garbage fire covering an area of approximately 200 square feet."
"We took about 15 minutes to douse the fire and stop it from spreading. The operation was completed at 10:14 am," he said.

According to him, the location has been identified as a dumping ground for illegal waste such as furniture, boxes, and plastic items.

However, he stressed that what was worrying was the presence of warning signs about a gas pipeline route near the area.
"I cannot confirm whether it is a gas pipeline route, but there are indeed warning signs there," he said.

Several photographs of the operation revealed a signboard warning people that the location is near a medium-pressure gas pipeline.
The sign also warned people not to throw or burn any rubbish or do any construction or excavation work around the area. - April 3, 2025
