The Fire and Rescue Department Malaysia (JBPM) rushed to a location near a Ramadan bazaar in Jasin, Melaka, yesterday (19 March) to rescue two young children trapped inside a locked car.

JBPM Melaka public relations officer Mohd Hafidzatullah Rashid was quoted by Sinar Harian as saying that they received an emergency call at around 3.43pm and dispatched five officers and a firetruck from the nearby Merlimau Fire and Rescue Station to the location.

He added that the two children, aged four and six, were trapped inside the locked Toyota Vios after their father, who is in his 30s, went to the Ramadan bazaar to buy food for breaking fast.

The father had left his children inside the car for around 20 minutes with the engine on and the windows slightly rolled down.

However, when he returned to the car, he found that the windows were completely closed by the children due to the rain and that the duo had fallen asleep inside.

The father then tried to wake them up but failed, hence why he called the emergency hotline.

Thankfully, the JBPM officers managed to open the locked car in 10 minutes using special equipment and rescue the two children. Afterwards, they were handed over to their family.
