Newcastle United will bid farewell to left-back Matt Bondswell this summer.

The Magpies are not renewing the contract of the defender after three years at St James' Park.

The ex-Nottingham Forest youngster did not make a competitive first-team appearance in that time.

He did spend time on loan at Newport County and Shrewsbury, while he played for the club's U21 team.

However, he was not thought to be a player that manager Eddie Howe could use as a first teamer.

Bondswell released a statement on X: "My time at Newcastle has come to an end.

I'll be leaving with many great memories and I want to thank everyone who has been a part of that so thank you to the fans for your support, it's been an honor to be able to wear the black and white shirt in front of you."
