Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah State Health Department launched a guidebook on the management of tuberculosis (TB) in Sabah.
Its Director, Datuk Dr Rose Nani Mudin, said the book “Sabah Handbook on Tuberculosis Management in Adults” was produced by State expert to increase knowledge and treatment of the disease.
“The book’s contents include global medical procedures and treatment that will provide guidance to all doctors in treating TB patients whether in hospitals, clinics or in the field.
“In addition, this book also contains the main strategy of the TB Disease Prevention and Control Programme through early detection, ensuring treatment is given and so that the patient does not infect others.
“I hope this guidebook can be fully applied in all stages of TB disease management and succeed in controlling and reducing the incidence of this disease,” she said when met by the media in conjunction with the launch of the book at the Health Office in Wisma Federal, here, Thursday.
Also present were Queen Elizabeth (HQE) Hospital Respiratory Department Head of Service and Consultant Respiratory Specialist, Dr Kunji Kannan Sivaraman Kannan, Sandakan Health Clinic Head of Service and Family Consultant, Dr Zaiton Yahaya and HQE Respiratory Department Medical Specialist, Dr Muhamad Khairul Taufiq Rosli.
