Boris Johnson squirmed when asked what role Rishi Sunak played in his downfall as prime minister in 2022.
Speaking to Camilla Tominey in an interview broadcast on Sunday, 6 October, to promote his Unleashed memoir, the former Conservative leader took several moments to compose an answer before describing his successor as “a close colleague and friend who turned on me at a particularly critical time.”
Mr Johnson also claimed that the Conservatives would not have lost the most recent general election to Labour if he had still been in place as party leader.
