Kota Kinabalu: Close cooperation between the State and the Federal Government is important to ensure that the Science, Technology Innovation and Economy (STIE) policies at the federal level can be properly translated to the State, especially at the grassroots.

“This year, Mosti is planning several programs specifically for Sabah, including continuing the high-impact programmes that were implemented last year.

“Among them are the Reskilling and Upscalling for Deep Tech and Future Skills programme which received an extraordinary response in addition to recording a 100 per cent employment rate in Sabah” said Deputy Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Arthur Kurup.

He said in order to attract the interest of Sabah’s children into the field of STI, Mosti also intends to organise a Borneo Science Expedition that will tour the entire state of Sabah.

The Borneo Science Expedition would also explore the interior to ensure no one is left out in sparking interest in STIs, he told TYT Tun Juhar Mahiruddin during a courtesy call.

Arthur also expressed the Ministry’s desire to further increase efforts to help Social Innovation, especially to solve problems at the grassroots level.

“We will look at the innovations at the grassroots level and find ways to further improve the technology as one of the solutions to the problems at the grassroots,” he said.

Arthur presented the role and achievements of the Ministry and agencies that have been implemented in Sabah in a one-hour meeting session.

At the session, the Sabah Governor was also given a comprehensive explanation regarding the collaboration between Mosti and the Sabah Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (KSTI) as well as the assistance and services that have been provided to the Sabah State Government.
