Kota Kinabalu: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor launched Borneo.TV on Tuesday, a new streaming platform that showcases the faces, voices and culture of the State on an international stage.
Carrying the tagline “Sabah in the Eyes of the World”, the platform is set to become a primary channel for delivering authentic content, original documentaries, cultural arts and Sabah’s natural beauty through a modern, flexible and globally accessible digital approach.
“This is not just the launch of a digital media platform, but a stage for Sabahan talents to express themselves and shape the State’s image through their own narratives,” Hajiji said when officiating the launch at Menara Kinabalu, here.

“Today’s lifestyle changes, from communication to entertainment, are all digitally driven. Borneo.TV is the right response to this shift and a chance for us to present our own content,” he said.
According to him, the State Government fully supports the implementation of Borneo.TV as it is not just a broadcasting platform, but also a strategic medium to deliver the true stories of the people of Sabah to the world.
“Today’s broadcasting world demands creativity, boldness and sensitivity to audience needs.
“I want Borneo.TV to be a space that challenges norms, highlights fresh ideas and introduces the true face of Sabah,” he added.
Hajiji also emphasised that those working with Borneo.TV must not see their role as merely technical, but as a creative art form that helps build the State’s image. All content produced must reflect values, identity and meaningful narratives.
He called on artists, digital influencers and local creative industry players to take full advantage of Borneo.TV as a platform to showcase original works and represent the voices of Sabah’s communities in an inclusive and credible manner.
The event also witnessed the exchange of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the State Government, represented by the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) Secretariat, and IB Media Consultant Work Sdn Bhd, the operating company of Borneo.TV, which runs without any State Government funding.
“This implementation model proves the commitment and confidence of the private sector in the potential of digital broadcasting in Sabah. I am confident that this approach will position Borneo.TV as a competitive and sustainable platform,” he said.
Hajiji also expressed appreciation to the SMJ Secretariat and IB Media for successfully realising the implementation of Borneo.TV under the Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya 1.0 Development Plan, which emphasises the creative economy sector as one of the State’s key growth drivers.
“I call on all stakeholders - government, private sector and the community - to support this initiative and make use of this platform to create, share and present Sabah’s narrative in the way we ourselves want the world to see it,” he said.
