After a good meeting with officials of the Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT), Executive Committee of MYAEROSATU comprising of Chairman Professor Dr. Haji Zulkifly Baharom, Secretary Dzul Bahrin, Exco Haji Zaini Rahmat, and Auditor Adi Satria Ahmad, convinced for power lunch at Strawberry Fields Cyberjaya. In addition to reviewing the outcome of their meeting with the MIGHT Vice President Ts Izzatul Huda Mohd Jalil, their deliberation touched on a number of current interesting matters, especially updates development & lessons learnt from FIFA World Cup 2026.

As a human resource development (HRD) practitioner, I found athletes practice relentlessly to execute flawlessly under pressure. Professionals engage in corporate training and continuous management development to drive innovation & operational efficiency. In sports, points on the board instantly indicate who is winning. In business, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and quarterly earnings serve as the scorecard to measure financial health and success.

However, the crucial differences to keep in mind that sports typically have clear winners and losers. Business can often be a “positive-sum” game where strategic partnerships & innovation grow the entire market, creating multiple winners. The rules of sport are rigid & codified. In business, rules constantly shift due to regulation, technology, economic forces. Both sport business call for winning behaviors that are contrary to being “ordinary morality" person.
