An unforgettable encounter for all the volunteers.
A cat rescue centre received a box with a note saying the sender had found this 'kitten' while out for a walk. But the team at Sierra Pacific Furbabies were in for a big surprise.
Based in California, USA, the charity is used to rescuing abandoned, stray, or at-risk cats and kittens. However, nothing could have prepared the volunteers for what they were about to discover.
A mysterious delivery
When the volunteers lifted the blanket covering the cardboard box, they found a note that read, “Kitten found on Mount Rubidoux hiking trail.” But as they peered inside, it was immediately obvious this was no ordinary kitten.
A wild surprise
The tiny creature was actually a baby bobcat. Surprised, the volunteers immediately contacted a local wildlife centre for help. The centre estimated the little bobcat to be around three to five weeks old.
The 'kitten' was then transferred to the California Wildlife Center, a specialist facility that was already caring for other baby bobcats.
This rather astonishing rescue captivated more than 6 million people on social media where its story was shared.
