  • A two-year-old boy, Rufus Davies, tragically died after being struck by a car reversing on a private driveway near Marlborough, Wiltshire, an inquest heard.
  • Rufus was let out of his mother's car and ran behind it, unknowingly into the path of a family friend, Tamsin Hayward, who was reversing her Porsche Macan.
  • Mrs Hayward, who was reversing slowly and checking mirrors, felt a bump and discovered Rufus, who was declared dead at the scene from a traumatic head injury.
  • Police investigators found no faults with the car and confirmed Mrs Hayward was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol, with no prosecution pursued as the incident occurred on private land.
  • The area coroner recorded a conclusion of misadventure, noting that Rufus, at 1.03 metres tall, would have been invisible to the driver in the car's blind spot.
