SANDAKAN: A four-year-old boy was found drowned after reportedly plunging into the sea with his mother and sister near the town wall along Jalan Coastal early Sunday.

Initial reports said the woman and her two children—a six-year-old girl and the boy—jumped into the sea at around midnight.

The woman’s male cousin attempted to save them but drowned in the process.

The children's mother was rescued by members of the public and rushed to the Duchess of Kent Hospital for treatment.

As of press time, two others—a man in his 20s, the girl—remain missing, with rescue operations involving the fire department, police, and Civil Defence Force ongoing.
