
An 11-year-old boy drowned while bathing at a Johor beach, found after a search operation involving multiple agencies.
KOTA TINGGI: An 11-year-old boy drowned while bathing with two friends at Tanjung Buloh Beach.
The victim, Putra Aniq Fairuz Mohd Faizul, was found at 10.26 pm near the scene after a search operation was launched.
An emergency call was received at 1.30 pm, prompting the activation of a Search and Rescue (CARILAMAT) operation.
Two other children were rescued earlier by local fishermen and members of the public.
The victim was confirmed dead at the scene by authorities.
The operation involved the police, the Fire and Rescue Department and the Health Ministry.
Acting Tanjung Sedili Maritime Zone director Maritime Commander Mohd Najib Sam confirmed the details in a statement.
The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency advised the public to avoid beach and water activities during bad weather.
It warned specifically of rough sea conditions.
