Boyz II Men confirms upcoming concert in Malaysia for 2025
Speaking on account of their impending appearance on local shores, group member Shawn Stockman said “We’re beyond excited to return to Asia and bring the Boyz II Men experience to Kuala Lumpur. The energy and warmth from our fans here are unlike anything else,”.
First formed in 1985 by Michael Grimaldi, Nathan Morris, and Marc Nelson, the initial lineup of Boyz II Men consisted of six singers in total. However, this would later be reduced to their most recognisable arrangement consisting Nathan Morris, Wanyá Morris, Shawn Stockman, and Michael McCarey. However, McCarey would drop out of the group owing to health issues he faced with multiple sclerosis.
Dubbed Billboard magazine’s ‘biggest boy band’ from 1987 to 2012, they are best remembered for their string of emotionally- charged ballads that typified the 1990s R&B sound with singles such as On Bended Knee, I’ll Make Love To You, and Motownphilly garnering the group both commercial and critical acclaim. Such was their influence that Boyz II Men was even credited for being one of the pioneers that pushed R&B into the mainstream consciousness with their deft intermingling of hip-hop influences with the typically more soulful genre.
Receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in January 2012 for their contributions to the entertainment industry, the group’s latest studio album was released in 2017. They last performed in Malaysia back in 2019 at KLCC’s Plenary Hall.
