A young student from Sekolah Kebangsaan Long Jaafar became an unexpected hero when he directly voiced his concerns about his school's broken toilets to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim during a visit to a Ramadan bazaar in Kamunting on March 14.

In a now-viral 28-second video, the boy is seen speaking earnestly to Anwar, explaining that two of the school’s toilets were out of order, leaving only two in working condition. The prime minister, clearly amused but attentive, held back a smile before responding to the student’s complaint.

"Two toilets are broken, two can still be used. I'll have to call Fadhlina later," Anwar said, referring to Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek, signaling that he intended to address the issue promptly.

Education Minister Responds to Unexpected Callout

The lighthearted yet impactful moment quickly caught the attention of Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek, who later responded humorously in the comment section of the video.

"Ok PMX, heard my name being summoned," she quipped, acknowledging the prime minister’s mention of her name.

Mixed Reactions Online

Social media users quickly shared their thoughts on the situation. While many admired the student’s boldness, others humorously speculated that some school officials might be feeling uneasy following the direct complaint to the prime minister.

“Many people are probably losing sleep tonight,” one user joked.

The incident highlighted a recurring issue in Malaysian public schools—poor maintenance of facilities.

A Lesson in Speaking Up

While the encounter was brief, it served as a reminder of the power of voicing concerns to those in charge. The boy’s direct approach not only caught the prime minister’s attention but also sparked a national conversation about school facility maintenance.

With the Education Minister now aware of the situation, it can be hoped that action will be taken soon to fix the school’s toilets—and perhaps improve maintenance efforts across other schools as well.
