The president of the Brazilian Football Confederation, Ednaldo Rodrigues, has announced Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti will take charge "in 2024".

Rodrigues made the revelation at the presentation of Fluminense coach Fernando Diniz as interim Selecao manager for the remainder of the year.

"Diniz is a coach whose game proposal is quite similar to that of the coach who will take over after the Copa Amrica, Carlo Ancelotti," declared Rodrigues.

"We would like to have Ancelotti with us in the 2024 Copa Amrica."

However, Rodrigues' public claims have upset Ancelotti's support team.

One source explained to AS: "If throughout the next season the team accumulates two bad results in a row, criticism will be directed at Carlo, accusing him of being more attentive to Brazil than to Madrid. And that wouldn't be fair."
