SANDAKAN: The Sandakan Prisons Department sponsored a breaking-fast programme that demonstrated its effectiveness in socialising prisoners.

More than 50 prisoners were allowed to break their fast in a relaxed setting with members of the public in an open area on the prison grounds.

Sabah and Labuan Deputy Prisons Director Abd Rauf Lang Pasih said this is an annual activity as part of their rehabilitation programme carried out in prisons across the country.

“The programme’s goal is to foster a sense of familial unity among residents and those on duty.
