Brentford boss Thomas Frank says Bournemouth manager Gary O'Neil deserves better press.

Both men were ignored for the Premier League Manager of the Year award this week.

Asked whether he was disappointed not to be nominated, Frank told the club's website: "There's a lot of people behind me that are doing an incredible job that have made this a very successful season for us.

"I think it's more of an indicator of how well we have done. We know, ourselves, that we have had a top season, in many ways.

"I don't know who is on the panel that has decided that six others have done an even better job. I think it's a tough task to be in that and to make that decision.

"Personally, I think another coach who has done incredibly well is Gary O'Neil from Bournemouth. I think he's been fantastic.

"He also came in a little bit later like [Roberto] De Zerbi and Unai Emery - I think they have done well as well.

"But when you look at the foundations they came into compared to the one that Gary had; I think he took over after they had just lost 9-0 to Liverpool at Anfield and everyone doomed them and said they would be relegated.

"I think he's done incredible work there."
