The Telegraph says the Dane is admired by United execs who are weighing up the future of manager Erik ten Hag.
While the Bees have struggled this season, Frank has his fans inside the United board room.
Frank is said to have an existing relationship with United minority owners Ineos. The Brentford manager has also worked in the past with United chief Sir Dave Brailsford.
Frank is in his sixth year in charge of Brentford.
